Ever wanted to know what the secret to a successful nightlife venue is in Dallas? Is it the number of drinks you sell in a night, the number of people you pack into the space on any given weekend, the hottest tunes or the attractive crowds that flock? Well at the newly opened SiSu, Danny Bui has got just the right mix of all of those elements in a classy, well thought out atmosphere. I assure you, this blog has the real scoop on what is sure to become a new favorite hangout.

The word Sisu is a Finnish term loosely translated into English as “strength of will, determination, perseverance, and acting rationally in the face of adversity”, Bui told me this past Friday evening during the opening night party. Bui has worked with his team alongside Executive Chef Stefon Rishel to create a poolside and established building that oozes cool. Formerly of Brackets, Rishel has created a menu that is described as ‘worldly-local’ and it is tasty!
The lunch menu items features items like:

SiSu Bruschetta with roasted garlic and tomato and a lighter than air goat cheese mousse or an Herbed Rack of Lamb thats juicy and tender

To die for Pork Belly Sliders marinated in Sriracha and Root Beer overnight

‘Uptown’ fries topped with Black Truffle Sea Salt and paired with Smoked Ketchup
This menu also features a sampling of salads including a Roasted Beet medley Salad with candied pecans, local Chèvre and a beet jus vinaigrette and other lighter choices. Other options include sandwiches and soups for lunch that are sure to wow.
Rishel and Bui have also added a number of refreshing and original cocktails to the menu as well. On the day we stopped in, we were treated to sips of the house favorite sparkling featuring hints of mango and citrus with champagne

I haven’t forgotten the most important part of this entire post. SiSu may keep its swanky identity and high profile clientele (Tony Romo and a few well known local Bravo Celebs) entertained and fed during after the sun goes down, but this hot spot hits another stride during the day. Find yourself poolside sipping a cocktail in your latest dapper threads or have a swimmingly good time dipping your feet or taking the plunge as SiSu transforms during the weekend daytime hours.

Cabanas line the outer ring of the space and closer to the wet action lie daybeds for optimal sunning or sitting when the crowd swells. During the VIP launch events this weekend, they sold out every seat…if that’s not a testament to living up to the hype, I don’t know what is. Bui prides himself on launching with a service foot forward and pays attention to every detail in the space. I can say I’m completely impressed that Bui touches every inch of SiSu and has the will, determination and perseverance to bring Dallas a new culinary and nightlife playground.

UPDATE: We’re told that SiSu just acquired the Bed and Breakfast next door, this will certainly fill out the ‘Uptown Resort’ experience that Bui set forward to have. After a lengthy renovation, SiSu will be restaurant, nightlife/daytime hotspot and boutique hotel with private guest access to pool.
