Known across Dallas as a landmark District where Southern charm meets tree-lined streets and cozy cottages, State Thomas is a neighborhood to see.
It borders downtown to the south at Woodall Rodgers freeway, and to the east is 75. Don’t let those bustling expressways fool you though, this area is quaint and full of secret hideaways and residential pride. State Thomas neighborhood contains the largest collection of Victorian era homes remaining in Dallas. The establishment of the region as a special-purpose district in 1986 help make this one of the first new urbanist regions in the city.
These attributes are the things you just don’t see in Dallas anymore. Preserved and repurposed homes are the star of the show in this gentrified District Within its boundaries you’ll find Hotel Zaza, a posh and classy hideaway hotel that plays home to celebrities and stay-cationers alike. Dragonfly restaurant and day/nightclub inside ZaZa is the place to be during the summer when the pool is revealed and the ear – hugging beats hit new decibel levels.
Looking for a cozy coffeehouse to caffeinate your day? My favorite is Crooked Tree. Find yourself on a plush couch inside or with your furry friend on the outside bench seating.
This neighborhood boasting watering holes like State & Allen Lounge and Nodding Donkey (they have great food menus as well, FYI!).
Take a stroll around the area and see just what history holds in the confines of busy Uptown.
