Local Favorites Launch for Summer

In just 2 short weeks we’ll officially hit the Summer season, but a few Dallas brands and boutiques are gearing up already. With launches and new product lines to announce, there’s much excitement to be shared in time for the hottest days to come.

Rays of Beauty

As mentioned last week, Piermarini Boutique had plans for expansion to their Snider Plaza storefront. Hot off the press today, we learn that John Piermarini and his team are not only expanding their store, but they’ve launched a new eponymous beauty line too. A short while ago I received a statement from Piermarini. “We are very excited to launch Piermarini Beauty, available exclusively at Piermarini Boutique. The complete line of make-up and skincare is a perfect reflection of the Piermarini aesthetic: simple, easy, and something that makes you look like the best version of yourself.  No harsh pigments or heavy foundations are found the make-up. The lightweight products make it easy to enhance your own skin.  Skincare is rich in vitamins, minerals, and a lot of SPF. These products are meant to rejuvenate the skin while also protecting from any further aging.  We believe keeping it simple and classic is the way to go, just like our clothing.”

Sun in Your Hair

Hair product Dallas divas Kaycee Clark and Holly Dear are known locally for their hair products that use locally sourced, super effective ingredients with a Texas twist. At Dear Clark salon in Uptown, stylists use these products to create some of the most sought after locks in town. Their line was even recently featured in NBC ‘s ‘Dallas‘ and in NYLON Magazine. The apothecary-inspired line includes five products designed around the needs of a modern urban lifestyle. The Dear Clark product line consists of the Resurrecting Wash, Resurrecting Rinse, Smoothing Elixir, Thickening Balm and Finishing Salve. All are handcrafted in Texas using Texas-grown ingredients. High performance natural elements in each product target stressed hair with a perfect trinity of ingredients: Aloe Vera moisturizes, Sunflower Seed Oil protects, and Rose of Jericho rejuvenates. Products range in price from $22 for wash and rinse to $24 for Smoothing Elixir, Thickening Balm and Finishing Salve. Each product is unique in composition and contributes to specific results.

Now, the ladies are set to unveil their latest additions to the line up with a volumizer and a dry shampoo coming soon.

Sweet Summertime

On the culinary front, local sweets shop Val’s Cheesecakes is cooking up a storm ahead of the Summer months.

“In 2012, after his mother passed, Jean-Bart decided to write a letter to Matt Spillers, chef and owner of Oddfellows, Eno’s, and Union Bear. He asked if Spillers would like to try some cheesecake. Spillers, being a smart guy, said yes. He was looking to expand the dessert menu, and he’d love to carry Jean-Bart’s cheesecakes at Oddfellows. From there, the day-time civil engineer started working nights and weekends with his buddy, another day-time mortgage specialist, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. They’re currently hoping to rebrand and find a brick ‘n’ mortar space.”

Perfect for poolside treat time, their mini cheesecake jars are delicious. The company has expanded the product offering and has Dallas in the palm of their dough filled hands. My favorite flavors? Red Velvet and Lemon. Yum!

Summer School Shades

Not to be outdone by their fashion friends on Henderson, lens shop Warby Parker is opening their classroom on June 18th from 6-9pm with a grand opening party.

After making its way around the USA—traveling over 8,550 miles —the Warby Parker Class Trip has found a place to call home in Knox-Henderson, Dallas. It was love at first sight, and they’ve been thinking about the barbecue, warm weather, and great people ever since they first rolled through.

The Warby Parker Classroom, the very first outpost in Texas, will feature a unique blend of two shopping experiences in one. Inside the shop, you’ll find everything you loved about school—1950s decor, independent books, school supplies, globes, chalkboards, apples—and none of the things you despised: pop quizzes, weird substitutes, and spitballs. Parked outside (just steps away from the classroom), shoppers will find our old- fashioned yellow school bus, complete with leather sofas, oak shelves, vintage reads, and special finds.

There will also be glasses everywhere. The classroom and bus will house the entire collection, and a whip-smart team of Warby Parker Advisors will be on hand to help pick out the most flattering frames. You’ll also find The Reference Desk—a one-stop- shop for pickups, adjustments, and more. Prescription glasses (now including optical and sun progressives!) are shipped within days, while sunwear and optical frames with non- prescription lenses are available for takeaway.
