By Design: Brian Zenner Back at Oak

Dallas has cultivated a love affair with everything that Chef Brian Zenner creates. Now, after helming the kitchen at Belly & Trumpet in Uptown, Zenner is heading back to Oak in the Design District as Executive Chef. More on the move:

Apheleia Restaurant Group has named Brian Zenner executive chef at Oak, the restaurant he helped open to rave reviews as chef de cuisine in 2012. Richard Gras tendered his resignation on Thursday.

Zenner was credited as the “unsung hero” behind Oak’s opening success and much-heralded food, along with the more visible Jason Maddy.

He was tapped to open Apheleia’s Belly & Trumpet in 2013, earning accolades including Food & Wine’s People’s Best New Chef Finalist; CultureMap Dallas’ Best Rising Star Chef; Dallas Morning News’ Best New Restaurants 2013; and many more.

Zenner will continue to oversee the kitchen at Belly & Trumpet, which is located just two miles from Oak.

‘We are excited to welcome Zenner back to Oak,’ said Richard Ellman, co-owner of Apheleia Restaurant Group, along with his wife Tiffanee. ‘The restaurant has a bright future ahead with Zenner at the helm, and we anticipate this move bringing Oak to new heights within the Dallas dining scene.'”

Congrats to Zenner, I can’t wait to see what he brings to the table next.
