Malcolm Gage and Cordey Lash, have always had a common passion for preparing, sharing, and indulging in traditional soul food. With a uniquely contemporary and health-conscious approach to southern cuisine, Gage and Lash are have created a match made in heaven for this southern boy. Lash and Gage, conceptualized their cuisine to honor the strong women in their lives. They are committed to bringing the soulful cuisine their families have enjoyed for generations into the modern culinary community. That’s how Ophelia’s New Soul was born.

The pair began by sharing their cutting-edge twist on family recipes with friends and family. However, with an overwhelmingly positive response, the two decided to combine their skills and passion into a business plan. They created a brand name that is centered in traditional comfort food that has been prepared and shared by strong women from generation to generation. It is the modern interpretation of southern cuisine that has given a unique character to Ophelia’s New Soul, making it unlike any other culinary experience in the area.

In March 2014, Lash and Gage were given the opportunity to compete on Food Network’s Food Court Wars. Ophelia’s New Soul wowed the judges with their Fierce Mac & Cheese, Tut’s Tasty Braised Collards, and Tasty Turkey Meatballs doused in specialty BBQ sauce. Lash and Gage won a location in the Collin Creek Mall Food Court, with a year of complimentary rent.

I stopped in to try out the AMAZING food. I highly recommend the fried chicken, mac & cheese and turkey meatballs. But truly, how can you go wrong when there is cornbread involved? Exactly.
