“A Sexy Place To Eat Tacos”, the top of the menu reads. “Where am I?” I think. Is there a way to make eating tacos “sexy” when I am usually downing them well past my bedtime or on the go in the morning? The answer is yes, but you have to know where to go. Let me preface this by saying that I was invited in to see what this “sexy taco” business was all about and inquired on my own, agreed and headed in to where this edition of Taco Thursday takes us. Enter, Le Taco. A former restaurant called ‘Scotch and Sausage‘ is now serving you tortilla wrapped goodness into the wee hours.

I walked in for lunch during the week to an early, yet empty dining room and decided the half-full patio might provide more ambience for this festive lunchtime occasion. After waiting a while, our server approached and I asked about the delicious looking ‘fresh pressed juices’ on the menu to which he replied “we stopped doing those weeks ago.” Disappointed, I decided on sparkling water instead. We started with a traditional Tex-Mex staple, tortilla chips and guacamole. What struck me is that the salsa paired with the duo is warm if not hot. I’m not talking about spicy level but the actually temperature. It was quite tasty so I said what the hell and ventured on.

The taco selection ranges from recognizable to downright different. A Moo Shu Duck Confit taco was laden with hoisin and Napa slaw but didn’t scream wow to me. Some recommendations I can make? Get the Le Oscar Taco filled with Akashi Beef, truffle, crap and sriracha. It was serious flavor explosions that went from decadent to delicious in 2 seconds. Another winner?  Out of this world Carnitas with smoked pork shoulder, red cabbage, grilled pineapple and a four pepper salsa. This one went down in two bites. Did I stay “sexy” throughout my lunch experience at Le Taco? Sadly no, but I did enjoy most of what I tried. My advice is to stay with the familiar, Le Taco does that well and it is definitely worth the visit in to sample the “sexy place to eat tacos.”

Le Taco Cantina is open 7 days a week, serving lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.

Le Taco offers complimentary valet parking.
