Healthy Tips for 2014

It’s no surprise that this year, yet again, Dallasites are making health a top priority. In my experience as a resolution-ary, I’ve found that those who say “I’ll work out and eat healthy everyday” normally don’t. However, I’ve come across 4 places in Dallas that are keeping you in tip top shape without you really even having the think about it. So, without further delay, I give you my healthy tips and tricks for 2014.

1. Sunstone Yoga Studios

From Uptown Dallas to Plano, McKinney and Southlake, Sunstone Yoga has become a go-to for yogis and those who want to improve their health. For over 11 years, the company has been making the mat home for relaxation, intense stretching and fitness. With a wide selection of experience levels, the instructors get it. For beginners like myself, it was a scary thought that I might find myself twisted in a pretzel and stuck. What I discovered is the complete opposite. From hot pilates (metal) to a lights off meditation class (water), they cover it all. So get your zen on at Sunstone Yoga and ring in the new year “namaste” style.

If you attend their 30 minute Intro class, you’re gifted a FREE week of Yoga and Hot Pilates. No excuses!

2. Flywheel Sports

Speaking from experience, this workout is unlike any other I’ve had in Dallas. Challenging you to push a little more than usual but still allowing you to work at your own pace, Flywheel is great. Locals like Mike Modano, Troy Aikman and the Cuban brothers swear by the bike and now I see why. It’s a music and instructor driven experience that lasts 45 or 60 minutes and includes climbs and descents, while working arms with weighted bars. Flywheel provides it all including free towels, bike shoes, lockers and more to keep you comfortable and riding at peak performance. And, the first class is free!

As part of the practice, Dr. Pinckney can perform an ultrasound scanning for your arteries, cholesterol and vascular inflammation testing and more. In order to feel well, you gotta eat well! True Food Kitchen, newly opened at the Plaza at Preston Center, was named a 2013 Nation’s Restaurant News Breakout Brand.
