On Tuesday, Barter Uptown started it’s Happy Hour program. On Thursday, I fell in love with it.
Little did I know when I ventured in for post work cocktails that I would stumble upon what is sure to become my favorite happy hour in town. They’re calling it the “3-5-7 HH” and it happens Monday – Friday from 3-6.
The breakdown? $3 for any beer; $5 for any specialty cocktail, and $7 for any wine by the glass! Why does this happy hour rule? At $30 a glass for Piper-Heidsieck Rose, it might normally be a pocket pincher. Not during happy hour my friend. That fancy pants glass of bubbly will run you just $7. And that expertly crafted Sazerac (Knob Creek Rye Or Germain-Robin Craft Method Peychaud’s Bitters, Tenneyson Absinthe Rinse, Lemon Zest) regularly priced at $13, goes to just $5. Beer is a steal too with all of the amazing, rotating brews.
Now, it may seem like Barter Uptown is doing themselves a disservice by offering such deals on booze. The real secret here lies in the fact that after a few of these drink steals, you’ll need something to fill that rumble in your tummy. Go for the Carrot “Home Fries” topped with Goat Cheese, Fresno Chilies. They offer a spicy kick and a creamy, cheesy bite. The Poutine is also a happy hour winner. This north of the border novelty will have you happy with Wild Turkey Gravy, Cheddar Curds. A third option would be to go with the special, off-the-menu charcuterie board that Chef Andrew Dilda keeps in season. The current feature is Lamb Prosciutto, but who knows how long that supply will last!
So, Dallas, here’s where the challenge comes in. With the weekend looming and 6 more hours of discounted libations ahead of you to warm up, what will you order? See you at Barter Uptown where the magic numbers are 3,5,7.
