This weekend Dallas was blessed with yet another 72-hours of unseasonable warmer temps. This time of year, the pockets of sunshine and cool breezes are reason for celebration before the bitter winds come sweeping in for Winter. In order to take full advantage of Mother Natures nod to the south, I ventured to the Bishop Arts neighborhood of Dallas to brunch the day away. At Bolsa, you’ll find inspiration from the best local ingredients available each season and produce offered by local farmers, small growers, ranchers and fishermen. We sampled the Iron Skillet Quiche topped with caramelized fennel, arugula, red bell pepper and goat cheese. Somehow the French Toast “Cakes with berries and Vermont maple syrup landed on our table too, but I wasn’t complaining.

Brunch is a funny time for fashion. You see, I feel like this midday meal gives folks the opportunity to decide between to outfit paths. On one hand you’ll have those who roll out of bed, slap on their sunnies and take on the day without care for those who might see them in their jammies. The other group will surely swear that brunch is a fashionable feast to be enjoyed while wearing something casual yet chic. I find myself somewhere in the middle, I am loving on the comfortable vintage slim chinos from TopMan that provide comfort with contour. When the weather plays in your favor, I recommend a classic short sleeve button down. It says “I contemplated a t-shirt kind of brunch, but I decided to one-up and throw in a collar.” Your brunch mates will appreciate the effort.

  1. I’m usually the same with my brunch style. I don’t like looking like “I’m trying too hard”, I want my style to look natural. I’m a major tomboy so I’m usually in flats or boots so that I’m comfortable and chic. And Bishop Arts is great for brunch as well as shopping!
